EGI Automated Forms Processing (AFP) application is part of the suite of EGI Electronic Records Management (ERM) applications. The AFP application automates the costly, time-consuming and error prone process of capturing information from forms, documents and other sources. AFP is designed for companies processing all types of forms, including medical insurance claims, credit applications, mutual fund enrollments, tax returns, orders and invoices, and those needing to scan, index and archive less structured documents, such as correspondence, regulatory filings, legal briefs and resumes.

The AFP application serves as the interface to business processes that rely on the collection or retrieval of business information. AFP integrates with all of the EGI Electronic Record Management applications to extend the reach of collected information while simultaneously providing lifecycle management and secured protection of information assets. Because AFP supports industry-standard XML, it will integrate with software applications from third-party vendors. It also allows information gathered to be integrated with an organization's business processes and databases.

AFP can enable an organizations to gather information from employees, departments, external partners or customers. The human resources department could use AFP to quickly create an employee benefits application and deploy it throughout the entire company. The sales organization could use AFP to create forms to gather information from its sales force. The data could then easily be integrated with all of the organization's business processes, including (CRM) customer relationship management and (ERP) enterprise resource planning applications.

AFP can create, publish and process a wide variety of forms. Generic forms such as, application, request, and test forms, as well as specific forms such as insurance, financial, medical and others can be created easily and published to the Web for wide access and improved service. The combination of web-based access and scanned form capabilities provides and end to end solution for extracting and exporting critical information to database, workflow, document and information management systems.

Benefits

POWERFUL INFORMATION CAPTURE
Captures information from any source - paper, faxes, scanned images, structured forms, unstructured documents, Internet forms, electronic forms and external applications via XML data streams. Information listed on structured forms and documents such as credit applications, new account forms, mortgage and loan applications and others can be captured faster and more accurately and delivered to the enterprise applications that provide customer service.

REDUCED COSTS
Automating forms processing can result in significant cost savings versus manual processing. Manually keying data from forms and documents is expensive, time consuming and error prone. EGI AFP automates this process and allows you to obtain reduced costs through improved processing rates, elimination or minimized printing costs, elimination of transcription errors or dual entry of information and real time access to information.

IMPROVED PROCESSING RATES
By reducing time-consuming data entry, AFP speeds the processing of business-critical information. We achieve this by extracting the data directly from the Internet form or by electronically reading critical information from scanned and faxed documents or electronic image files and exporting it into back-end database, image archival and document management systems. Faster information capture enables make better decision making, improved processing and more responsive customer service.

IMPROVED INFORMATION ACCURACY
Every manual keystroke is a potential error and even accurately entered data is not necessarily valid. Rules for accurate data collection prevent the need for manual intervention and processing to correct errors. By reducing keystrokes, AFP minimizes errors, and by incorporating and consistently applying your proven business rules, AFP ensures the accuracy and validity of all information captured.

FASTER INFORMATION ACCESS
The AFP application gives users real time access to current and historical information and statistics over the web. Data collected from the electronic and paper forms are stored in the user specified source for immediate manipulation by applications and users. With our unified information model, the information can be stored in a multiplicity of locations and formats and be viewed as if they were from a single source.

FASTER IMPLEMENTAION TIME
EGI AFP is an Internet-based application that allows you to create, configure and deploy electronic forms in a rapid and cost effective manner. Our applications are designed to dramatically reduce the complexity, time, and costs associated with Internet implementations, without compromising the functionality you require.

Features

FASTPATH FORM DESIGNER
The EGI FastPath module provides a rapid form building tool for information capture applications. Its graphical user interface allows you to rapidly develop robust electronic forms and map the associated fields to the appropriate data sources without the need for highly skilled programming resources.

FASTPATH WORKFLOW DESIGNER
Information capture requires specialized workflow to route images and data from task to task. After a form has been developed, the FastPath Workflow Designer module is used to produce a logical workflow that can be executed in a test mode in order to fine-tune the flow. The module lets you easily create and manage sophisticated workflows that include unlimited routing flexibility, data and event-based routing, exception processing and error handling conditions. The workflow is seamlessly integrated into the AFP application.

FIELD CAPTURE
AFP's form field mapping capabilities allows you to collect, store and manipulate data from Web-based forms. This is easily accomplished using FastPath's graphical user interface to create Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) forms, which can include predefined and application-specific maps written in JavaScript. These HTML forms are then automatically and dynamically generated as requests are processed. Mapping is executed within the HTML forms as data is entered through a browser to provide instant feedback as the HTML form is submitted to the AFP Server.

EXPORT
The Export module outputs data and images in many formats, including XML, PDF, HTML, and ASCII files. Interfaces to JDBC compliant databases and many of the leading database, workflow, document and information management systems, LDAP and storage and retrieval applications are available, and custom export formats can be easily implemented.
